Republic P-43 Lancer

Development of the P-35. The P-43 was heavier, but the addition of a turbosupercharger improved performance considerably. Nevertheless the performance of the P-43 was not up to European standards, and it lacked armour protection. Most P-43s were only ordered to keep the production lines of Republic open, until the P-47 could be delivered. Only the P-43s lend-leased to China saw combat.
